Venetian Terrazzo, Crafted to Last: A tradition that spans centuries and lives on in contemporary projects

Since 1870 we have preserved and created Venetian Terrazzo through traditional on-site craftsmanship, maintaining the artisanal knowledge that shaped its history

Venetian Terrazzo originates from the technique of “scattering” marble aggregates onto a binding base, historically made of lime.

Over the centuries, craftsmen used the materials available to them: marble fragments, processing leftovers and stones collected from riverbeds. Each region left its mark on the material, creating surfaces with different colours, hardness and character.

The history of Cancian is rooted in this heritage

Our roots date back to the mid-nineteenth century. We are among the oldest companies still active in the sector and continue to create Venetian Terrazzo according to traditional on-site techniques, with our own specialized teams.

Each floor is the result of entirely manual craftsmanship. It is not a product that can be replicated in series, but a work created directly on site, designed to become part of the architecture and to endure over time.

Choosing traditional Cancian Terrazzo means relying on authentic expertise, capable of combining cultural heritage and technical quality for iconic architectural projects.

How we work

Co-design & consulting

The architect brings the initial concept and, through continuous dialogue, we analyse feasibility, materials and technical solutions until we find the right balance between aesthetic vision and on-site execution.

Custom Sampling

In the first phase we share high-definition images of the developed sample; afterwards we produce a physical sample to confirm colours, aggregate size and the final aesthetic result before work begins.

Executive design

We define dimensions, layouts and materials through a detailed analysis of the work to be carried out, creating precise plans for the specialized installation teams.

On-site execution

Installation takes place directly on site and is managed by our in-house teams of specialized craftsmen, ensuring complete consistency between the project and the final result.
